Who we are

Herdrape is an online marketplace for sarees, rooted in Tamil Nadu's weaving tradition. We bring together sellers and weavers from the saree towns of Tamil Nadu and make it easy for women across India to discover, compare and buy sarees they will love, with honest descriptions and a smooth shopping experience.

Our name says it simply: Her and drape. Every saree on Herdrape is chosen with one person in mind, the woman who will wear it.

Our story

Herdrape was started by Venkatesh Ganesan, who has long been involved in the Tamil Nadu saree and textile trade. Having seen how much skill goes into every saree, and how hard it can be for good sellers to reach buyers beyond their own town, he built Herdrape to connect the two: a trusted place online where authentic Tamil Nadu sarees can reach customers everywhere.

We are based in Manathal, in Salem district, Tamil Nadu, close to the weaving centres where many of our sarees come from.

What we offer

Sarees from Tamil Nadu's weaving towns: with a special focus on Elampillai sarees, known for their comfort, durability and traditional borders.
Many sellers, one place: a growing marketplace where independent sellers list their own sarees, so you can find more variety in one store.
Herdrape Studio: our own seller account, offering sarees we select and stand behind.

What we stand for

Honest descriptions: sellers must describe fabric, weave type, and blouse piece truthfully. Handloom, powerloom, silk, silk-cotton and cotton are labelled for what they are.
Respect for the craft: handwoven sarees show small natural variations, and we explain these openly instead of hiding them.
Fair, simple shopping: clear prices with GST included, secure payments, and Cash on Delivery on selected pincodes.
Easy returns: if something arrives wrong or damaged, our 7-day return policy has you covered.
Your privacy: we never sell your personal data.

How Herdrape works

Sellers list their sarees with accurate photos and details.
You browse, choose and place your order.
The seller confirms and packs it, and our logistics partners deliver it to your door, with tracking updates on WhatsApp, SMS or email.
If anything is not right, our team helps you with returns and refunds.
